Rosena Ranch Circuit Race - OC Armada Racing Team

Rosena Ranch Feb 25th, 2017 - Race Report

AUTHOR: EJ Wright - OC Armada Race Team

Here I am Monday the 27th reflecting on what seemed to be a whirlwind of a weekend; quite possibly a perilous weekend whereas the line between training and racing has begun to blur into obscurity.

On tap for the weekend was the aesthetically simple yet difficult Rosena Ranch Circuit Race. Simple in the sense, a straight forward two mile circuit with two 180 degree turns. Difficult, on opposing ends of the course and these "climbs" and constant 5+mph cross wind that...

The Vollmer Roll - 2016 XC Mountain Bike National Championships

The Vollmer Roll - 2016 XC Mountain Bike National Championships

Nearly a month before my race I was given the opportunity to live up in Mammoth with a fellow racer of mine, where we would be able to acclimatize to the harsh conditions up at 8,000 feet. Three weeks and 3 days before the Cat 1 15-16 Cross Country MTB National Championships event, I was leaving the 100+ degree weather in SoCal to train up in Mammoth. In early March we announced the arrival of Scott Bikes to G2. I am an experienced cross-country mountain bike racer and I cut my teeth racing on an alloy hard tail bike with a mid-level reliable fork. I told myself for years that it was legs and risk taking that made fast times. Is a full suspension bike worth it? After testing the Scott Spark, I am ready to say, “Yes!”

I have experienced the local amateur and pro mtb racing. Often times the start lines look like a sea of Specialized Epics and Cannondale Flash and...

The Vollmer Roll - Valley of the Sun Stage Race

The Vollmer Roll - Valley of the Sun Stage Race

I had a nice off-season, filled with lots of training in the beautiful weather of a SoCal “winter.” But, for the 2016 season I was in search for a new motivating force, and was willing to venture off of the MTB route to checkout some road racing, hoping to eventually turn full roadie in my 17-18 years. That led me to a 3-day stage race in the Phoenix area known as Valley of the Sun Stage Races. This was the first real test of the season, and my biggest road event yet. I registered in the 15-16 category, G2 Bike...
